garlic1Originally from Asia, garlic is part of the onion family. It is widely used in cooking, and is an old-fashioned remedy that treats many body systems.

Best known for preventing and treating colds, influenza and sore throats, with anti-viral, antibacterial, anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties, garlic is also useful for bladder and kidney infections, ear infections, and yeast and parasitic infections. It helps arteriosclerosis and high cholesterol, may prevent tumor growth and lowers blood sugar. When eaten raw garlic releases allicin, which has antibiotic effects. It also improves digestion and enhances the absorption of food.
