An historical resource for herbalists and physicians, this scented fruit inhibits “unfriendly” bacteria to keep the gut clean and healthy. Blueberries contain therapeutic agents lethal to bacteria, namely E.coli, and are a common folk remedy for urinary tract infections as well as diarrhoea. The tannins contained in the fruit are said to kill microbes.

As well as improving micro-circulation, blueberries contain high levels of antioxidants, which are believed to protect against heart disease, stroke, cancer and gum disease, and to enhance eyesight. They also treat coughs and colds.
